Inaugural 2015 Annual General Meeting
A message from the Convenor of the 2015 Annual Scientific Meeting of the Australasian Gastrointestinal Pathology Society, Prof Anthony J Gill:
The inaugural annual meeting of the Australasian Gastrointestinal Pathology Society was held at Royal North Shore Hospital on 9th and 10th October 2015. The meeting was a huge success, being attended by more than 90 subspecialist gastrointestinal pathologists from across Australia and New Zealand. In addition to the establishment of an Australia and New Zealand wide special interest group in GIT pathology, a major outcome of the meeting was the development of AGPS endorsed consensus guidelines for mismatch repair / microsatellite instability testing in colorectal carcinoma, grading and nomenclature in Barrett’s oesophagus, terminology for serrated polyps and an approach to adenocarcinoma arising in colonic polyps.
I wish to particularly thank the Cancer Diagnosis and Pathology Research group for their outstanding support and sponsorship of this meeting. I also acknowledge the support of the Cancer Institute NSW and the Sydney Vital Translational Research Centre.
